Welcome to Buddy’s Camper!

Thank you for your interest in our silver VW Transporter short-wheelbase T5 campervan. Let me tell you a little more about it.

Driving: it is a pleasure to drive, two comfortable front seats, manual gearbox, power steering, radio/cd player with a USB port for connecting your iPod or similar device. I must admit the AC is not amazing, but I have never been too warm in my van, and conversely since the van is fully insulated it does retain heat nicely for the winter. We have camped in the van in the middle of winter (we used a fan heater to keep warm) in the Peak District and the middle of summer in Devon. It is ideal all year round, and even though the lofty driving position gives you a great view of the road ahead, it is not too large to negotiate the tight and windy Westcountry lanes! The van is equipment with a pull-tested rock n' roll bed which has two seat belts fitted for carrying two passengers in the back. The bed sits a few inches higher than a regular seat and so I would recommend the back seats for children or people under 5'10' in height.

Camping: the rock n' roll bed converts into a comfortable double bed, full length and 3/4 the width of the van. The kitchen unit contains a double gas hob (Camping Gaz) and a sink with operating pump (from tank reservoir). There is a table which clips on and off the side unit for convenience. It is stored under the bed when not in use. There is a small fridge with sufficient storage for 3 bottles of wine/milk/juice, some butter, and perhaps three or four other small items. The side unit contains a good amount of storage space. Each window in the back of the van has a curtain. We have a leisure battery installed for running low voltage items without mains hookup, and we also have a mains hook up cable. Please note this van does not have a pop-top roof.

We supply a bed sheet but no other linen, or duvet.  We can supply some small cooking pots and pans, a chopping board, some mugs, plates, bowls and cutlery. This is on request, and free of charge. Please contact us with your requirements and we will do our best to accommodate you. If you require something very specific we will do our best to supply it, but it would be charged.

Journey Restrictions: In order to manage mileage and general wear and tear on the van I am no longer accepting long distance trips, i,e. Scotland and Cornwall. I am happy to discuss your trip on a case by case basis but to give some guidance local trips would include Peak District, Cotswolds and the East of England.

Aesthetics: the van is equipped with alloy wheels and low profile tyres, and the bumpers and side mirrors are colour coded to the van. The van has roof bars which are useful for attaching a tarp (if you have one) to but they are there mainly for aesthetics, and we do not have a roof-rack. We can provide on-street parking for your car outside our house.  If you have any questions about our van do not hesitate to ask me.
